Link Love Friday: Reinvent Yourself

The lotus, an ancient symbol of restoration and renewal.

This week I’m really excited about something on the horizon: I’ll be offering some natural beauty advice as part of The Reinvention Project: 30 Days to a Happier, Healthier, More Inspired You. I’m so excited to join a pretty spectacular roster of amazing women who will be offering advice on all kinds of things, from stress relief and changing your mindset to finances and living your dream lifestyle. The best part? It’s free.

Here’s what I’ve been reading+enjoying this week:

  • Christy Coleman interviewed the lovely Spirit Demerson of SpirityBeautyLounge.com.
  • Whole Living is launching a 21-day detox plan that starts Jan. 3, and I’m seriously considering giving it a try. The only problem? I can’t imagine giving up my absolute favorite part of my day: my morning coffee. (Maybe I can fudge on that one little thing?!) Anyone out there want to try it with me?
  • The Green Beauty Guide shared a recipe for an active charcoal facial (doing it!) and a few DIY recipes for chapped lips.
  • At The Organic Authority, this story about how herbicides that make their way into our water supply are another cause of changing hormones in women. And you know what? I’m pretty pissed about this whole thing. Not just about the herbicides, but about how many different versions of this story I’ve read. Hormones are a powerful regulator in the human body, and when there are so many chemicals surrounding us that can change or manipulate them—from our cosmetics to the food we eat to the water we drink—it’s no wonder they have such a large impact on our bodies.

Link Love Friday (Saturday): Soapbox

I’ve spent a lot of time on my soapbox this week! Not only did we talk helping Trilogy save orangutansshowing your body some love and the Susan G. Komen/BPA controversy, but I also shared a few easy ways to care for your makeup brushes and my excitement at seeing Tata Harper in Whole Living. Since I didn’t put up my regular Link Love Friday post yesterday, I thought I’d do a bonus post today to share the things I’ve been reading+enjoying this week.

What are you reading+enjoying lately? —Aleigh
