I’ve written about lipstick on Indigo + Canary many times, but here’s a quick recap: It’s a tough product for me. I have super full lips and often feel like wearing lipstick makes me look clownish. But as I’ve gotten older (and, perhaps, my lips have gotten a little thinner?), I have started to feel like lipstick is the thing that makes me look — and feel! — pulled together. When I’m wearing lipstick, I’m doing the #adulting thing. I feel like a grownup. However, this whole uncertainty about lipstick has a side effect: It also makes me extremely picky. If a lipstick is too drying, it gets tossed. If it doesn’t have the staying power to last through a morning meeting, out it goes. (Side note: As the mother of a toddler, purging things from my home has become a big part of my self-care. Getting rid of stuff feels so good.)
