A charming window display from the early 1940s.
I have a few more posts planned for the last few days of 2012 (including a review or two!), but posting will continue to be light at Indigo+Canary until January, while I slow down a little to celebrate the holidays and get ready to welcome 2013.
For now, I’ve collected some nuggets from around the web to share with you. Here’s what I’ve been reading+enjoying lately:
Apparently Oprah is planning to get in on the organic thing—including, potentially, beauty products. Here’s hoping she gets it so right that I stop hearing the phrase “natural cosmetics don’t work,” which I have dubbed Natural Beauty Myth #2.
3 Wreaths to Make for the Holidays, from Oh Happy Day. (How gorgeous is that kumquat and bay leaf wreath?!)
This Eco ATM seems like a pretty great idea.
The train to Versailles has been painted to match the actual Versailles, and I am really coveting a seat on it. These gorgeous photographs are making my longing to visit even worse—but aren’t they lovely?
Happy holidays, all! Hope yours are merry and bright. —Aleigh
Tomorrow is December, and I can hardly believe it. I’m terribly behind in my gift shopping this year, possibly because I’ve been working so hard on our 2012 Holiday Gift Guide. I’m planning to make up for lost time this weekend, and I hope our gift guide helps you do the same! Here’s what I’ve been reading+enjoying this week:
- I really needed to read this great message in my friend Rosie Molinary’s newsletter yesterday: You have to teach people how to treat you.
- Well+Good NYC has a great post about workday stress relief, and it’s perfect for this time of year: 8 Deskside Remedies for Freak-Outs at Work.
- This post on No More Dirty Looks about the “holy grail of skincare” cracked me up! One hilarious nugget: “…let’s face it, that woman clearly has a direct line on some magical unicorn hair…”
Do you have any fun links to share? —Aleigh

This has not been a great week, and it’s all my fault. I know how to manage my stress levels and what I need to do to help maintain that optimistic outlook of mine, and I’ve been letting things slip. It happens to everyone, I guess. But I’m determined to get back to the positive mindset I had at the beginning of the week, and it starts with being grateful that today is Friday (instead of wishing today was Saturday). And I have some great, happy links to share, so that helps, too.
How do you pull yourself out of a funk? —Aleigh
