Link Love: Happy March!

Big thanks to everyone who has already filled out the 2013 Indigo+Canary Reader Survey! It’ll be up until March 9—I’ll randomly select a winner for the $25 Spirit Beauty Lounge gift card on March 10, and announce the winner here.

In the meantime, I have some great links to share:

There’s a good list of BPA-free canned goods and baby formula at the end of this post from EWG.

I’m loving this slideshow of two-minute tricks that boost your health from Well+Good NYC. (Dry brushing, yes!)

I really appreciate this post on No More Dirty Looks: making choices about what’s “clean enough” for you. (Reminds me a little of this post from last summer.)

I’m definitely going to make this citrus surface cleanser from Organic Authority. Look out, countertops!

Good information from Prevention: the best time of day to take your meds. (And I’d also like to test out these all-natural perfumes…)

What are you reading+enjoying lately? —Aleigh

Love the post from NMDL on “clean enough” and such an important thing to consider. I have standards for my professional product but they are more flexible in my personal life, in part due to budgetary restraints. My food situation is much the same. We do our best and perfection does not exist, nor will I flog myself over not reaching some “perfect” status. Kindness should be given to ourselves as well as to others. I have been forced for years now to accept the fact that the man I love has been a smoker despite the fact that I am a hard core nonsmoker. I have battled over this for a long time inside myself – can I accept it, what if something happens to him, can I be bound to someone making a life choice I disagree with so much? In the end it comes down to I love him and I know why he has not been able to change his choices yet – a lot of them relating to judgement, insecurity, and feeling low about himself. So me judging doesn’t help. Only love can enter the dark places and make them light, and so despite the difficulty and fact that his choices are counter to mine I accept and love him anyway.
Life is a long series of imperfections, humbling experiences, and moments when if we are blessed enough we realize how small and ignorant we really are.
Just a few thoughts to add…. 😉 Love and happy Friday!!
