The Pantone Fashion Color Report 2012

Every year, in February, Pantone releases its Fall Color Report. But since I don’t tend to write about fall until it has arrived (well, almost), I’m only just starting to pay attention to what’s hot for fall. Last year, I discovered that most of the company’s fall color trends were already reflected in some of my favorite natural makeup lines—and this year is no exception.

What an impressive list! I’m always stumped as to what colors are most “suitable” for fall and then you have many product recommendations to boot! Sweet, I look forward to trying out some of these things in the gorgeous shades you’ve presented us with.

Oddly (for me since I usually don’t go for brights), I adore Pink Flambe. I would combine it with the tangerine (something so fresh about those shades of pink and orange together…I just bought a lovely pair of two toned espadrilles in those exact shades and my iPhone case has little orange and pink birds all over). If I had to pick one just for fall, it would be Rose Smoke. I have a few pinks that work, and the almost-nude blue tone-based pink is on the top of the list. I have the Alima eye shadow! It’s a great base color to brighten tired eyes. Like mine lately. 😉

I love how many of these shades are so vibrant…not that sort of muted, dark look that comes with so many fall colors. And that baby pink color (Rose Smoke) has to be the most universally flattering shade of the bunch…I’ve been spotting it everywhere. Nails, eyelids, cheeks, lips, wherever.
