What beauty habit(s) are you trying to break?

Back in December, I put together a list of 12 beauty habits to break in 2012. Now that the year is more than halfway over (can you believe it?!), I have been wondering:

Have you managed to break any bad beauty habits? Or, like me, have you found a few of these tough to beat?

I have been in a losing battle with two bad habits. First, #2: my makeup brushes. I think I have washed them three times this year—nowhere near the once-a-month plan I vowed to follow as my one beauty resolution of 2012. Second, #10: the ponytail. If my hair is wet, I’ll twist it into a bun or braid it, but I still find myself pulling my hair back into a ponytail pretty frequently—especially this time of year, when it’s extra hot and humid outside. (Living in the South definitely has its perks; summertime heat and humidity is not one of them.)

So. What about you? Have you been trying to break any of these bad beauty habits? Have you been more successful than I have? Do tell! —Aleigh

Oh so many…starting with not eating breakfast, washing my hair every day, touching my face (not leaving acne alone, thereby spreading or delaying healing of bumps). And probably 50 more. I started using an organic food delivery service and added breakfast bars and “hand fruits” (bananas, plums, etc.) to my list so there’s no excuse for me to skip breakfast. Earlier this year, I started working from home a couple days a week and that’s allowed me to skip hair washing (it’s still hard though, with the heat in Austin). Last week I washed my hair Thursday evening and not again until last night (Sunday). I think that’s the longest I’ve gone (and your dry shampoo recommendation helped BTW). The face touching thing is hard – I cannot stand having a blemish. But I follow my derm’s instructions and only do the minimum with fingers wrapped in tissue or cotton swabs. And I got a few Badescu products (healing lotion, drying lotion…they seem fairly organic in ingredients).

Thanks for the reminder that I need to keep my resolutions!
