This week, Siobhan at No More Dirty Looks wrote a post that shook me a bit. It’s about the potential for pthalates in a place I hadn’t considered—prescription drugs. I’ve been peeved about this all week. I work really hard to avoid pthalates in the products I use, and until this week I hadn’t even considered the pills I take. (I’ve mentioned it here and here, but avoiding pthalates is on my mind a lot more frequently than it appears I’ve written about on Indigo+Canary. Might be time to remedy that!) Anyway, Siobhan says that many prescription medications contain pthalates. And the worst part? It’s not always easy to figure out if it’s in your prescriptions.
Here’s what else I’m reading this week:
- I love this post on my friend Rosie’s blog about different kinds of pretty. So true.
- Get ready to cheer: Campbell’s is phasing out BPA in its soup cans! This is really, really great news.
- According to a new Swedish study, seasonal changes can have an impact on the amount of Vitamin D you need in your supplements. I take a prescription-strength Vitamin D supplement (on the
advicedemand of my doctor), so I find this really interesting. And it makes a lot of sense. Have you had your Vitamin D levels tested? - Jolene wrote about the Top 5 Spring Beauty Foods, and I’m on board with all of them…except for beets. I detest beets. (Unless I’m making a lovely cheek stain out of them, of course!)
