Earlier this week I interviewed Julie Ebner, founder/owner of Juju Salon and Organics, for a story I’m working on. During our conversation, we got a little sidetracked talking about DIY treatments for getting naturally shiny hair.
Her secret? An apple cider vinegar rinse.
“It’s a really easy thing to make at home,” she says, adding that it’s effective for all types of hair. “It re-balances the oil production on your scalp, and keeps your color longer, especially with women who have highlights.”
To make it: Buy a bottle of organic apple cider vinegar (Julie prefers Bragg brand), mix in a few tablespoons to 8 oz. of water, shake it up, and apply to wet hair. Work it through your hair well, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse. Follow with your shampoo or conditioner.
“It really, really works,” says Julie. “It works really well on curly-haired clients.”
I don’t know about you, but I have officially added organic apple cider vinegar to my shopping list. Will you try it? —AleighPin It
